Home Energy Score Assessor Training Pathway

Prepare to add Home Energy Score to your inspection, audit, or advisory service. HES provides a 1–10 rating and estimated annual energy costs using standardized assumptions. Actual bills vary with household use.

• Meet an accepted prerequisite, such as the BPI Building Science Principles (BSP) Certificate of Knowledge or another accepted credential
• Affiliate with a DOE Home Energy Score Partner
• Complete DOE's simulation training and testing
• Complete a mentored first-home assessment
• Meet ongoing quality assurance and assessor maintenance requirements

Participants learn to use Green Home Predictor to organize assessment findings, identify missing information, and prepare practical plans and contractor handoffs. The Green Home Coach is an applied role for professionals providing this homeowner guidance.
