Pilot Workforce Initiative
Green Home Coach
Formal pilot role: Market Development Project Coach (MDPC)
Strengthening the Missing Layer Between Audit and Installation
A New Professional Role for Whole-Home Retrofit
The Green Home Coach is a trade-neutral, job-linked retrofit pathway guide. Working alongside auditors and contractors, Green Home Coaches help ensure that upgrades are sequenced correctly, scopes are complete, and projects move from audit to installation without stalling.
This role does not replace contractors or auditors. It strengthens alignment between them—reducing rework, improving bid clarity, and increasing completed project value.
- Use the energy audit as the verified baseline
- Apply structured sequencing logic to prevent mis-ordered upgrades
- Align trades around a single, financeable workscope
- Document assumptions, photos, and quality checkpoints
- Support homeowners through structured pathway commitment
This pilot focuses on workforce development and sequencing integrity. Construction contracts remain between homeowners and contractors. In state and workforce-development materials, this role may also be referenced by its formal pilot designation, MDPC.
Training + Field Pilot Structure
Participants complete structured training and then apply the Green Home Coach role in real pilot homes in coordination with auditors and participating contractors.
- Home Energy Score training and proficiency
- Building science and electrification sequencing labs
- Structured photo documentation standards
- Workscope development and contractor alignment
- Quality assurance and post-install review
The training model is designed to be practical, field-based, and tied to measurable project outcomes, with the goal of improving audit-to-project conversion and trade coordination.
